นายฟาร์ฮาน แฮก รองโฆษกเลขาธิการองค์การสหประชาชาติ (UN) เปิดเผยว่า นายอันโตนิโอ กูเตอร์เรส เลขาธิการ UN ได้ตัดสินใจกักตัวเพื่อสังเกตอาการ หลังจากที่เขาได้ติดต่อใกล้ชิดกับผู้ติดเชื้อโควิด-19

เดิมทีนั้น นายกูเตอร์เรสมีกำหนดเข้าร่วมการประชุมระดับสูงของกองทุน Central Emergency Response Fund ในวันนี้และจะขึ้นกล่าวสุนทรพจน์ในพิธีเปิดการประชุมของคณะมนตรีความมั่นคงแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNSC) ภายใต้หัวข้อการก่อการร้ายและการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสภาพภูมิอากาศ แต่กำหนดการเหล่านี้ได้ถูกยกเลิก

นอกจากนี้ กำหนดการของนายกูเตอร์เรสที่จะเข้าร่วมเป็นแขกผู้ทรงเกียรติที่งานกาลาประจำปีของสมาคมผู้สื่อข่าว UN ในแมืองแมนฮัตตันในคืนวันนี้ได้ถูกยกเลิกเช่นกัน
