ศูนย์ควบคุมและป้องกันโรคแห่งชาติสหรัฐฯ (ซีดีซี) เห็นชอบขั้นสุดท้ายในวันศุกร์ (13 ส.ค.) ให้เริ่มฉีดวัคซีนโควิด-19 เข็มกระตุ้นแก่ผู้รับวัคซีนไฟเซอร์และโมเดอร์นา ไม่กี่ชั่วโมงหลังคณะกรรมการสำคัญชุดหนึ่งลงมติเป็นเอกฉันท์สนับสนุนให้ฉีดวีคซีนเข็ม 3 แก่ชาวอเมริกาที่มีระบบภูมิคุ้มกันอ่อนแอ

ความเคลื่อนไหวของซีดีซีมีขึ้นหลังจากสำนักงานอาหารและยาแห่งชาติสหรัฐฯ (เอฟดีเอ) ในช่วงเย็นวันพฤหัสบดี (12 ส.ค.) อนุมัติให้ฉีดวัคซีนเข็มกระตุ้นแก่คนไข้ที่มีระบบภูมิคุ้มกันอ่อนแอ
