รัฐบาลสหราชอาณาจักรเตรียมบริจาควัคซีนโควิด-19 อีก 20 ล้านโด๊ส ไปยังกลุ่มประเทศกำลังพัฒนา ภายในสิ้นปีนี้

สำนักข่าวต่างประเทศรายงานจากกรุงโรม ประเทศอิตาลี เมื่อวันที่ 30 ต.ค.ว่านายกรัฐมนตรีบอริส จอห์นสัน ประกาศต่อที่ประชุมสุดยอดผู้นำกลุ่มประเทศเศรษฐกิจขนาดใหญ่ "จี20" ที่กรุงโรม เมื่อวันเสาร์ ว่ารัฐบาลสหราชอาณาจักรพร้อมบริจาควัคซีนโควิด-19 ของแอสตราเซเนกา/ออกซฟอร์ด ให้แก่กลุ่มประเทศกำลังพัฒนา รวมกันอีก 20 ล้านโด๊ส ภายในสิ้นปีนี้ โดยวัคซีน 10 ล้านโด๊ส ส่งมอบผ่านโครงการโคแวกซ์ ขององค์การอนามัยโลก (ดับเบิลยูเอชโอ) แล้ว เท่ากับว่ายังเหลืออีก 10 ล้านโด๊ส ซึ่งจะมีการส่งมอบ "ภายในอีกไม่กี่สัปดาห์ข้างหน้า"


แผนการดังกล่าวเท่ากับว่า ตลอดปีนี้ สหราชอาณาจักรบริจาควัคซีนให้แก่นานาประเทศ 30.6 ล้านโด๊ส ขณะที่ในปีหน้า จอห์นสันกล่าวว่า รัฐบาลมีแผนบริจาควัคซีนของแอสตราเซเนกา/ออกซฟอร์ด อีกอย่างน้อย 20 ล้านโด๊ส และวัคซีนของจอห์นสันแอนด์จอห์นสัน อีกอย่างน้อย 20 ล้านโด๊ส โดยจะยังเป็นการส่งมอบผ่านโครงการโคแวกซ์เช่นเดิม



อนึ่ง ย้อนกลับไปเมื่อเดือน มิ.ย.ที่ผ่านมา กลุ่มประเทศอุตสาหกรรมชั้นนำ 7 แห่ง หรือ "จี7" ประกาศแผนบริจาควัคซีนต้านโควิด-19 รวมกัน 1,000 ล้านโด๊ส ให้แก่โครงการโคแวกซ์ โดยวัคซีนครึ่งหนึ่งมาจากสหรัฐ และ 100 ล้านโด๊สจากสหราชอาณาจักร อย่างไรก็ตาม ดับเบิลยูเอชโอวิจารณ์ว่า วัคซีนยังคง "กระจุกตัว" อยู่แต่ในกลุ่มประเทศร่ำรวย และการที่วัคซีนแทบทุกแบบในตอนนี้ ต้องใช้ 2 เข็มต่อคน และเริ่มมีการฉีด "เข็มที่สาม" เพื่อกระตุ้นภูมิคุ้มกันหรือเป็นบูสเตอร์กันแล้ว โลกจึงอาจต้องการวัคซีนประมาณ 11,000 ล้านโด๊ส เพื่อควบคุมวิกฤติด้านสาธารณสุขครั้งนี้ให้ได้.
