จังหวัดลำพูนจัดงาน "เทศกาลโคมแสนดวงที่เมืองลำพูน" ประจำปี 2564 ตั้งแต่วันนี้ - 19 พฤศจิกายน 64 ณ วัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัย อ.เมือง จ.ลำพูน ภายในงานตื่นตากับโคมไฟโบราณหลากสีสันนับแสนดวง โดยนักท่องเที่ยวร่วมแขวนโคมเพื่อถวายเป็นพุทธบูชาได้

การถวายโคมแสนดวงจัดทำขึ้นเพื่อถวายเป็นพุทธบูชาต่อองค์พระธาตุเจ้าหริภุญชัย และเพื่อเคารพสักการะพระนางจามเทวีปฐมกษัตริย์แห่งเมืองลำพูน เมื่อถึงงานเทศกาลยี่เป็ง ชาวล้านนาจะนิยมประดับประดาตกแต่งบ้านเรือนให้สวยงามด้วยการจุดผางประทีปหรือประดับโคมไฟให้สว่างสดใสตลอดช่วงเทศกาล

ทั้งนี้ชาวล้านนาเชื่อว่าการทำโคม เป็นการบูชาพระพุทธเจ้าที่ประทับ บนสรวงสวรรค์ และแสงประทีปจากโคมจะช่วยส่องประกายให้ชีวิตมีความเจริญรุ่งเรือง อยู่เย็นเป็นสุข

ด้วยเหตุนี้ทางเทศบาลเมืองลำพูน จึงร่วมกับชุมชนได้ทำการเตรียมโคมหลากสีสัน ไว้ถวายเป็นพุทธบูชา และรองรับนักท่องเที่ยวที่นอกจากจะเดินทางมาชมความงามระยิบระยับของโคมไฟโบราณภายในวัดพระธาตุเจ้าหริภุญชัยแล้ว นักท่องเที่ยวยังสามารถเขียนชื่อและข้อความอธิษฐานขอพรลงบนโคม แล้วแขวนตามจุดสถานที่ต่าง ๆ ที่ทางผู้จัดเตรียมไว้ เพื่อเป็นพุทธบูชา ให้ชีวิตมีความเจริญรุ่งเรือง ร่วมถึงเป็นการสะเดาะเคราะห์ตามความเชื่อของชาวล้านนา
