'Waste Surfer' เมื่อขยะแปลงกลายเป็น 'Surfskate'

จากไอเดียเก๋ๆ ของ 'เจน' กัลยา โกวิทวิสิทธิ์ ผู้ร่วมก่อตั้ง FabCafe Bangkok ที่อยากลองนำขยะและวัสดุเหลือใช้มาใส่ไอเดียให้เป็นแผ่น "Surfskate" เพื่อสร้างมูลค่าและอาจเป็นโอกาสเติบโตของผู้ผลิต "เซิร์ฟสเก็ต" ในไทย

เธอจึงเปิดรับขยะและวัสดุเหลือใช้หลายชนิดเพื่อทดลองผลิตเป็นแผ่น "Surfskate" หรือที่เรียกกันว่า Deck ทว่าการนำขยะมาใช้คือความท้าทาย จึงเปรียบเสมือนการทำวิจัยร่วมกันระหว่าง FabCafe Bangkok และผู้ร่วมโครงการ

"เราคัดเลือกในทีแรกได้วัสดุมาประมาณ 10 ชนิด และคนก็เพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ คนหนึ่งก็มีหลายวัสดุ ตอนนี้เลยมีประมาณ 20 วัสดุได้ เราก็ทำงานกับ Material Connexion Bangkok ของ TCDC (Thailand Creative Design Center) เขาเป็นคนมาดูว่าวัสดุไหนน่าสนใจ เสร็จแล้วคนที่ได้รับคัดเลือก ก็จะมาแข่ง Hackthon มี ผศ.ดร. ประสิทธิ์ พัฒนะนุวัฒน์ จากคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย มาให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับการขึ้นรูปแบบ Cold Press เป็นแม่พิมพ์แบบเย็น แล้วบีบอัดขึ้นมา

พอเรียนเสร็จ ทุกคนก็จะต้องทำชิ้นทดลองขึ้นมา เพราะถ้าไม่เวิร์คก็จะกลายเป็นแค่ขยะชิ้นเล็กพอ ถ้าลงมือทำชิ้นใหญ่แล้วพลาดก็จะกลายเป็นขยะที่เยอะมาก เมื่อผ่านด่านนี้แล้วเขาถึงจะไปทำเป็นแผ่นใหญ่ และให้คนที่เล่นเซิร์ฟสเก็ตมาทดสอบ โดยดูเรื่องการผลิต, ความแข็งแรง, ความยืดหยุ่น และเรื่องน้ำหนัก เพราะบางอันหนักมาก"

หากนับระยะเวลาที่ "Surfskate" เติบโตในประเทศไทย ก็ไม่น้อยกว่า 2 ปีแล้ว "เซิร์ฟสเก็ต" จึงไม่นับว่าเป็นของใหม่นัก แต่ความแปลกใหม่ของ "Surfskate" ในโปรเจค "Waste Surfer" คือวัสดุต่างๆ ที่หลายอย่างแทบจะนึกไม่ถึงว่าจะทำเป็นแผ่นสเก็ตได้

เจนยกตัวอย่างวัสดุที่กำลังได้รับการพัฒนา ได้แก่ เสื่อกก, ใยบวบ, รองเท้าแตะ, ไม้ไผ่, พรมนิทรรศการ, ลังกระดาษ, กากกาแฟ, E waste, แหอวน, Bubble wrap, หนัง, ผ้า, เมล็ดชมพู่น้ำดอกไม้ และ เซลลูโลสเปลือกทุเรียน

"ถ้าเอาความแปลกเป็นหลัก คิดว่าวัสดุจากทีมสวนลัคกี้ฮิลล์ป่าละอูค่อนข้างแปลก คือใช้เมล็ดชมพู่น้ำดอกไม้กับเซลลูโลสเปลือกทุเรียน แต่ในแง่ความแข็งแรงอาจจะต้องพิจารณาอีกที ต่างกับวัสดุบางอย่างเช่น แหอวน พวกนั้นต่างประเทศก็มีคนทำ มันแข็งแรงด้วยตัวของมันเอง

ในแง่ของความเบา รองเท้าแตะเอามาทำได้เบาที่สุด ในแง่ของคนสนใจ ทีมที่เอาขยะจักสานพวกเสื่อมาทำ อันนี้สวยสุด หลายคนบอกว่าอันนี้น่าจะมีคนอยากได้"

ซึ่งคนกลุ่มนี้ที่นำเสนอไอเดียและลงมือทดลองทำล้วนแต่เป็นคนที่สนใจเรื่องการลดปริมาณขยะอยู่เป็นทุนเดิม โดยที่ไม่ว่าจะใช้วัสดุใดก็ต้องไปสู่เป้าหมายเดียวกันคือเพื่อใช้งานจริงได้ เพียงแต่วัสดุต่างๆ มีตัวแปรแตกต่างกัน เช่น ผ้าไม่มีทางแข็งแรงได้ด้วยตัวเอง จำเป็นต้องแทรกวัสดุอื่นเข้าไป เป็นต้น

"กุญแจสำคัญของเราคือทำอย่างไรให้ขยะพวกนี้ถูกแปรรูปเป็นสิ่งที่คนต้องการ เพราะถ้าเรารณรงค์เรื่องลดขยะ แล้วเอาไปทำพวงกุญแจ สุดท้ายมันก็จะกลายเป็นขยะอยู่ดี อย่างโปรเจคที่เราทำนี้ จะมีตัวชี้วัดสองตัวคือ 1.มูลค่าที่เพิ่มขึ้น ถ้าเกิดมูลค่าลดลงเราจะไม่ทำ 2.ช่วงชีวิตของมันต้องนาน ถ้านานได้เกิน 3-5 ปีจะเยี่ยมมากเลย เพราะมีบางคนเอาขยะไปทำเป็นแฟชั่น แต่วงจรชีวิตมันต่ำ เราเลยมองว่า "Surfskate" มันเก็บได้ยาวๆ เพื่อเป็นการยืดอายุขยะ ไม่ให้มันกลับไปเป็นขยะอีกรอบหนึ่ง"

หลายต่อหลายครั้งที่ไอเดียเพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นเพียงอีเวนท์ซึ่งเกิดขึ้น ตั้งอยู่ (แป๊บเดียว) แล้วดับไป แต่ความพยายามของโปรเจค "Waste Surfer" ไปไกลกว่านั้น คือ จากขยะในถัง จะไปโลดแดล่นทั้งในลานสเก็ต และบนเชลฟ์ของ Skate Shop

ถึงตอนนี้จะยังอยู่ในขั้นตอนการพัฒนา แต่เจนได้พูดคุยกับพาร์ทเนอร์ร้านสเก็ตหลายแห่ง เตรียมที่ทางให้ผลิตภัณฑ์ได้ไปต่อ ทั้งในแง่การเป็นแหล่งรวบรวมวัสดุเหลือใช้ แหล่งผลิต และจำหน่าย

"ถ้ากระแสเซิร์ฟสเก็ตมันลดฮวบลง อย่างน้อยก็ยังมีสนามหรือกลุ่มคนที่เล่นอยู่ ถ้าเราเอาเครื่องผลิตแผ่น Surfskate จากวัสดุเหลือใช้ นอกจากคุณเรียนรู้การเล่น คุณยังเรียนวิธีการสร้างด้วย ถ้าเป็นเรื่ององค์ความรู้ก็จะไปได้เรื่อยๆ เลยไม่ค่อยห่วงว่ามันจะหายไป

เครื่องที่เราพัฒนาขึ้นมาคือแม่พิมพ์ จะไปตั้งอยู่ตามที่ต่างๆ เช่น ร้านสเก็ต สมมติคุณจะผลิต Deck จากฝาขวดพลาสติก ก็รวบรวมฝาขวดให้ได้ตามจำนวน เช่นใช้ 300 ฝา พอครบก็ไปร้านที่มีเครื่องนี้ ไปแปรรูปออกมา"


เจนเล่าว่าเครื่องผลิตแผ่นสเก็ตจากขยะมีอยู่สองแบบ คือ แบบ Cold Press กับแบบ Heat Press สำหรับแบบ Cold Press คือการบีบอัดด้วยแรงดันสูงให้วัสดุขึ้นรูปเป็นแผ่น โดยมีตัวประสานเช่นกาว เรซิ่น เป็นต้น ส่วนแบบ Heat Press เป็นการใช้ความร้อนบวกกับการบีบอัดด้วยแรงดันสูง วิธีนี้อาจต้องมีสถานที่พิเศษสักหน่อย เนื่องจากความร้อนจะทำให้กาวหรือพลาสติกกลายเป็นสารระเหยที่มีพิษ ดังนั้นหากมีระบบดูดอากาศ หรือระบายอากาศจะเหมาะสมกว่า
