นายเทวินทร์ มีทรัพย์ หัวหน้าอุทยานแห่งชาติเขาแหลม จ.กาญจนบุรี เปิดเผยว่า เจ้าหน้าที่อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาแหลม ร่วมกับทหารหน่วยเฉพาะกิจลาดหญ้า กองกำลังสุรสีห์ เข้าตรวจสอบหลังได้รับการร้องเรียนจากชาวบ้านบ้านเกริงกระเวีย ตำบลชะแล อำเภอทองผาภูมิ จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ว่า มีการบุกรุกและลักลอบตัดไม้ทำลายป่า ช่วงรอยต่อระหว่างอำเภอสังขละบุรี และอำเภอทองผาภูมิ พร้อมบุกรุกเข้ามาทำไร่มันสำปะหลังบนเนื้อที่กว่า 100 ไร่

โดยเจ้าหน้าที่ได้ใช้โดรนบินสำรวจโดยพบพื้นที่เป้าหมายที่มีการบุกรุก เป็นพื้นที่ภูเขาสูง ซึ่งจากภาพถ่ายพบการตัดโค่นต้นไม้เป็นไม้ไผ่ และไม้ขนาดเล็กบนเขา และพบการถางป่าเป็นบริเวณกว้าง จำนวน 3 จุด บนพื้นที่กว่า 100 ไร่ ซึ่งชาวบ้านให้ข้อมูลว่าในพื้นที่ดังกล่าวมีการแผ้วถางป่าในช่วง 2-3 สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา โดยพบอีกจุดเป็นสถานปฏิบัติธรรมแห่งหนึ่งซึ่งกำลังก่อสร้างที่พัก พบไม้แปรรูปจำนวนหนึ่งอยู่ในพื้นที่ก่อสร้าง และส่วนหนึ่งซ่อนอยู่ใต้ถุนบ้านพักโดยใช้ผ้าใบปิดคลุมอำพรางไว้

ทั้งนี้ พื้นที่บุกรุกอยู่ในเขตป่าสงวนแห่งชาติป่าเขาพระฤๅษี และป่าเขาบ่อแร่ แปลงที่ 1 ซึ่งจะได้ประสานผู้รับผิดชอบดำเนินการตามกฎหมายต่อไป
