ธนกร วังบุญคงชนะ โฆษกประจำสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี เปิดเผยว่า พล.อ.ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงกลาโหมได้รับทราบจากกระทรวงสาธารณสุขถึงการตรวจพบผู้ป่วยไวรัสโควิด-19 ต้องสงสัยติดเชื้อโควิด-19 สายพันธุ์ "โอมิครอน" รายแรกของไทย เป็นการติดเชื้อจากนักท่องเที่ยวชาวอเมริกันที่เดินทางมาจากสเปน จากระบบ Test to Go ซึ่งถือว่าไทย เป็นอันดับที่ 47 ของโลก ที่พบผู้ติดเชื้อไวรัสโควิด-19 สายพันธ์ุโอมิครอน หลังจากตรวจตัวอย่างพบความเข้ากันได้กับจีโนมของโอมิครอนสูงถึง 99.92%

อย่างไรก็ตาม กระทรวงสาธารณสุข ยังยืนยันว่า สายพันธุ์ส่วนใหญ่ที่พบขณะนี้ ในไทยยังเป็นสายพันธุ์เดลตา 65.97% สายพันธุ์อัลฟา 32.48% และสายพันธุ์เบตา 1.54% ทั้งนี้ นายกรัฐมนตรีจะร่วมกับกระทรวงสาธารณสุขและคณะแพทย์ และผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ ที่ปรึกษา เพื่อติดตามพัฒนาการสถานการณ์โควิด-19 อย่างใกล้ชิด โดยขณะนี้ ยังไม่มีการเปลี่ยนแนวทางหรือนโยบาย ซึ่งทุกอย่างจะต้องมีการนำเข้าสู่ที่ประชุม ศบค. ในครั้งต่อไป

"นายกรัฐมนตรีเชื่อมั่นระบบสาธารณสุขไทย มีกระบวนการการเฝ้าระวัง ตรวจสอบ และคัดกรองที่มีประสิทธิภาพและเข้มข้นสูง สามารถวินิจฉัยผู้ป่วยต้องสงสัยติดเชื้อโควิด-19 ได้อย่างรวดเร็ว ซึ่งขอให้พี่น้องประชาชนตระหนักแต่อย่าได้ตระหนก โดยคณะแพทย์ไทยและทั่วโลกยังยืนยันการยึดหลักอนามัยส่วนบุคคลอย่างเคร่งครัด ด้วยมาตการการป้องกันการติดเชื้อแบบครอบจักรวาล Universal Prevention เป็นการป้องกันตนเองขั้นสูงสุดตลอดเวลาให้ปลอดภัยจากโควิด-19 ทั้งสวมหน้ากากอนามัยและหน้ากากผ้า รักษา เว้นระยะห่าง และหมั่นล้างมือให้สะอาด สามารถป้องกันโควิด-19 ได้ทุกสายพันธุ์" ธนกร กล่าว


นอกจากนี้ นายกรัฐมนตรี ยังฝากย้ำไปถึงประชาชนที่ยังลังเลยังไม่ได้รับการฉีดวัคซีน ขอความร่วมมือให้รีบเข้ามารับการฉีดวัคซีนที่รัฐจัดหาให้ รวมทั้งสำหรับผู้ที่ได้รับวัคซีน 2 เข็มแล้ว ก็ขอให้ติดตามการประกาศข้อแนะนำจากกระทรวงสาธารณสุข สำหรับการเข้ารับฉีดวัคซีนบูสเตอร์ในระยะเวลาที่เหมาะสม ต่อไป
