นอกจากไฟฉายแล้ว ยังมีอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ ที่สามารถให้ความสว่างแทนไฟฉายได้อีกมากมาย เช่น ไฟ LED Camping หรือไฟ LED Ball เป็นต้น และอุปกรณ์อีกอย่างที่ต้องมีไว้ใช้งานคู่กันกับไฟฉายเสมอ และขาดไม่ได้เลย ก็คือ ถ่านไฟฉาย นั่นเอง ซึ่งถ้าหากเราเดินทางไกล หรือจำเป็นที่ต้องใช้ไฟฉายนานๆ ก็จำเป็นต้องพกถ่านไฟฉายสำรองติดตัวไปด้วยเสมอ หรือคุณสามารถเลือกใช้ถ่านชาร์จได้ เพียงแค่พกเครื่องชาร์จถ่านไปด้วย ซึ่งวิธีนี้เป็นวิธีที่จะช่วยลดความยุ่งยากในการพกถ่านไฟฉายไปหลายๆ ก้อน โดยถ่านไฟฉายจะมีหลากหลายรูปแบบ โดยจะขึ้นอยู่กับประเภทไฟฉายที่เราใช้ มาทำความรู้จักถ่านไฟฉายแต่ละประเภทกันเถอะ!

ถ่านธรรมดา เป็นถ่านไฟฉายที่มีสารประกอบจาก Zinc Chloride ซึ่งถ่านธรรมดานั้นจะมีราคาที่ย่อมเยาว์ และด้วยความที่มีความจุที่น้อยจึงทำให้ต้องมีการเปลี่ยนบ่อย

ถ่านอัลคาไลน์ เป็นถ่านไฟฉายที่มีสารประกอบที่ให้กำลังไฟฟ้าได้เสถียรกว่าถ่านธรรมดา จึงเหมาะกับอุปกรณ์ที่ต้องการกำลังไฟมากกว่า เช่น รถบังคับของเล่น, มอเตอร์ต่างๆ, ไฟฉายกำลังสูง หรือไฟแฟลชกล้องถ่ายภาพ เป็นต้น

ถ่านกระดุม คือแบตเตอรี่เซลล์เดียว ที่มีรูปร่างกลมแบนลักษณะทรงกระบอกเตี้ยขนาดเล็ก โดยทั่วไปจะมีเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง 5 จนถึง 20 มิลลิเมตร สูง 1 ถึง 6 มิลลิเมตร ซึ่งจะขนาดเท่าๆ กับกระดุม จึงเป็นที่มาของชื่อ อีกทั้งถ่านกระดุมถูกออกแบบมาให้มีการคายประจุที่ต่ำเพื่อทำให้ใช้งานได้นานโดยมีอายุการใช้งานมากกว่า 1 ปีอีกด้วย

ถ่านชาร์จ ถ่านไฟฉายประเภทนี้ออกแบบมาเพื่อให้สามารถชาร์จพลังงานเพิ่มเข้าไปได้เรื่อยๆ ทำให้สามารรถใช้ซ้ำได้ โดยทั่วไปแล้วถ่านชาร์จจะสามารถชาร์จไฟเข้าไปได้อย่างน้อย 500 ครั้ง และประเภทแบตเตอรี่ของถ่านชาร์จนั้นโดยส่วนใหญ่จะเป็น "แบตเตอรี่นิกเกิล เมทัลไฮไดรต์ (Ni-MH)" และ "แบตเตอรี่ลิเธียม ไอออน (Li-ion)"
